America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) announced it will provide CNG shuttle buses for both the Democratic and Republican national conventions. For the Republican National Convention in Tampa, ANGA is working with TECO and Ultimate CNG to provide 12 shuttle buses (which have been named “GOP EZ Shuttles”) and TECO (the local gas utility) to provide the fuel. These cleaner, quieter shuttle buses will transport convention participants along fixed routes from several hotels in the Tampa Bay area to the Convention and several local attractions.
“We are proud to have this opportunity to provide transportation to convention participants in Tampa and to give them a first-hand experience with natural gas vehicles,” said ANGA President and CEO Regina Hopper. “Companies and local leaders across the country are embracing natural gas as a fuel choice and calling for more vehicle options and filling stations to help drive this change. Our message in Tampa and beyond is that this is an extraordinary opportunity for our nation, and it’s time to get on board with this American fuel choice.”
Tampa is a city already taking advantage of natural gas in its airport transit vehicles, and the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit system will also start using CNG in 2013. CNG powered shuttle buses will also provide transportation for participants of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
