This week, the Atlanta, Georgia, city council voted unanimously to accept $2.1 million from Atlanta Gas Light Co. (AGL) to build two CNG fueling stations. AGL is planning to open nine CNG stations around Georgia, including five in metro Atlanta. The first stations could begin operating by the middle of next year. The Georgia Public Service Commission approved a plan last fall allowing the gas utility to withdraw $11.6 million from the ratepayer-funded Universal Service Fund to launch an effort to make Georgia a hub for CNG investment in the Southeast.
