Planning is well underway for NGVAmerica’s 2012 NGV Conference and Summit, which will be held October 3rd-5th at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois, just 10 miles northwest of O’Hare International Airport. Themed “Vision-Leadership-Growth,” our event has been timed and co-located with Bobit Business Media’s Green Fleet Conference & Expo 2012, where NGVAmerica is a major co-sponsor and will host a large multi-booth NGV Zone on the Green Fleet Expo floor. Green Fleet attracts progressive public and private fleet managers with a track record of implementing alternative fuel and AFV transportation technologies and past participation in their expo has been rated well by NGV industry stakeholders. Co-locating our two events back-to-back at the same location and tying into their expo makes the most of our members’ and our mutual target audiences’ time and budget resources.
NGVAmerica’s 2012 NGV Conference and Summit program begins with Wednesday afternoon’s Technical Committee meeting and briefing hosted by CVEF, beginning at 2:45pm. That evening, all 2012 NGV Conference and Summit registrants are invited to a NGVAmerica-sponsored reception at the nearby Westwood Tavern where Green Fleet participants also will be in attendance.
Thursday’s program comprises the ever-popular Market Development Peer Exchange, lunch, then an informative afternoon at the NGVAmerica Annual Meeting and Board Meeting (open to all members). At those meetings, staff and committee chairs will brief all industry stakeholders about ongoing activities and future plans, and they’ll seek additional input regarding the industry’s coordinated efforts. That evening, we’ll all be heading for reception to the nearby Arlington Park Racecourse, considered by thoroughbred racing enthusiasts to be one of the most beautiful grandstands and courses in the nation.
Friday’s Summit has been re-worked to include general plenary session presentations and panels, supplemented by up to a dozen breakout sessions covering technical, market development and political and public advocacy topics. That evening, attendees will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the Terrace of Sam & Harry’s steakhouse at the Renaissance.
At this year’s conference, NGVAmerica is planning a series of “poster presentations,” static single-board easel-mounted presentations of successful market development efforts, technology initiatives, advocacy programs and other topics of interest to our attendees. Posters will be displayed in the ballroom foyer where Continental Breakfast and refreshment breaks are held. Members interested in securing one of these limited number of poster presentation slots are encouraged to prepare a 100-word abstract describing the proposed poster presentation and submit it to Stephe Yborra for peer review by a volunteer team of industry associates. Poster presentations are a great way for our industry partners and customers to get exposure for interesting developments that our limited agenda timing cannot accommodate.
Conference Venue and Registration Logistics
NGVAmerica has negotiated a favorable room rate with the Renaissance and blocked rooms in cooperation with Bobit’s Green Fleet team. Whether booking under “Green Fleet” for those arriving early to participate in the NGV Zone on Tuesday and Wednesday, or under “NGVAmerica” for those arriving Wednesday, your room rates are the same. Room rates are based on the government per diem for ALL attendees (currently set at $190/night). In addition, NGVAmerica and Bobit have coordinated registration logistics through a single common vendor (Custom Registration Inc) and offered discounts to attendees who register for both events. Furthermore, pricing has been set to discount registration rates for NGVAmerica members even more so. Registration for NGVAmerica’s 2012 NGV Conference and Summit (alone, without registering to attend or exhibit at Green Fleet) is $795 with a $300 discount for NGVAmerica members. NGVAmerica members who exhibit at Green Fleet and register for the 2102 NGV Conference and Summit will enjoy an additional discount of $200 off the price of registering for the two events individually. More information about Green Fleet and 2012 NGV Conference and Summit registration rates, including rates for non-members and non-exhibiting vendors is available at http://www.greenfleetconference.com/Page/Register.aspx
NGVAmerica’s 2012 NGV Conference and Summit website should be live by Tuesday. There you will find the Program-at-a-Glance; the detailed Conference Program (including scheduled breakout session topics); hotel amenity information, rates and booking link; “NGV Zone @ Green Fleet” information and purchase link; National NGV Achievement Award nomination form; and registration information and links.
