According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, U.S. natural gas producers are on track set a record in 2012. Despite low prices 11.9 Tcf were produced in the first six months of this year compared with 11.2 Tcf in the first six months of 2011. Total production in 2011 reached 23 Tcf, which exceeded total production in 2010 by 7.8 percent, and topped the previous record of 21.7 Tcf set in 1973. The volume of gas produced has been higher in every month of 2012 compared with 2011.
